Some of the main ways you can assist and contribute to the Great Empire are listed here. Thanks!I'm so late on this! I should have done the discussion for the first ep of BOC last week, but I had a bunch of relatives over and it was really hectic, and well...at least we'll do a combo discussion! And it doesn't really matter this time 'cuz the first ep was rather meh. Nonetheless let's get started!
Episode 1
Dammit, this must be a formula for 'em. Way to kick off a super anticipated season with an honestly bleak and not-so-cool ep. ಥ_ಥ
First it was that one Italian guy (and also in the manga it was Chlaus - just noticed that Chlaus still hasn't made an appearance in the anime, how weird)...then this guy, and now it's that one other cocky guy. God, I'm sick of these businessmen doing all this illegal crap but constantly complain 'bout Queenie's control and how they can't get enough moolah with the watchdog in the way, blah blah. (Chlaus of course is aweshum and is not a part of 'em.)
And so this arrogant loser goes to visit Ciel for dinner to do some negotiations...but wait, he doubts Ciel's power and decides to send snipers to shoot him at eight o'clock.
First why eight? Why precisely eight? He made such a big deal out of eight o'clock.
Second why the hell would you doubt Ciel's power? Ain't he living in London too? Why in blazes doesn't he know much 'bout how strong the watchdog is, and how Ciel can really kick his loser arse.
Well whatever, that's what he's planning. Though the plan has so much flaws but he's too oblivious to care. And really?? He was gonna have snipers snipe the crap outta the room...where he is at???? He's in the goddamn same room! Oh Buddha help him. He was all like "go for it!" and hid under the damn table! Bullets...table...bullets flying everywhere...table...it's not gonna provide much protection, come on dude, the only thing between you and the bullets is basically the tablecloth...
What he should have done instead was casually stand by the doorway, awkwardly make the excuse that he needs to use the restroom, then scream "go for it!" and run outta the room. And what's his deal with hating children.
So of course the terrible plan didn't work 'cuz well, Sebastian already took out all the snipers in the aftanoon. Dude, if he was gonna be so serious 'bout eight o'clock he should have really emphasized eight o'clock to the snipers. Like really, these snipers went hours earlier than when they're supposed. Why exactly!? God, they make me laugh painfully.
Then everything is very deja-vuish 'cuz the loser finds bullets in his food, is all shocked, tries to shoot Ciel, fails miserably, completely spooked by both of 'em, tries to crawl away, Sebastian stops him, Ciel and Sebastian show off their contract mark thingys, he screams, he dies.
And I totally skipped the info about the beginning of the ep 'cuz it was all about a "regular work day" at the Phantomhive Manor and well, that was a little bit boring.
BONUS: LAUUUU. Yes! Very cool how he only pretended to be buddies with that loser to help Ciel.
I didn't like how they didn't follow the manga at this part when it was Lau who gave Ciel Queenie's letter. They explained it by having Charles Grey (woot woot for Michee!!!) and Charles Phipps mistake Lau for a servant.
First, no. You don't just label Lau a servant. Second and more importantly, I would think they should know that Lau is a noble (he's even dressed rich), amirite? So that doesn't make sense. Grey especially should know since he's an earl.
But ok, suspension of disbelief. Check!
It doesn't matter in the end 'cuz Ciel got Noah's Ark Circus tickets and now off we go to the circus!
Episode 2
So they followed the manga accurately and without flaw this ep, and I'm really proud of the animators. The manga deserves this justice.
Since I've already read this arc so many times, I don't feel like going over all the details again and again, so let's make this brief. Ciel and Phantomhive infiltrate Scotland Yard, got info, gave said info to Undertaker, Ciel made Undertaker laugh then got confirmation that none of the missing children are dead yet. Afterward went to the circus show, saw the performances, Sebastian volunteered for last act 'cuz he wanted to stroke Betty (it's the tiger). Got bitten (twice for that matter, haha), and was later told by Joker to go see their doctor.
Ok, I keep telling myself not to give any spoilers away for those who haven't read the manga, but seeing that damn doctor acting all kind and wise and cultured and crap...ok, I promised no spoilers. But...you ain't foolin' me again, Doc, that's all I'm saying.
Well anyway, Sebastian is curious about their prosthetic leg, went waaaay to close to Beast, got attacked by Beast and Dagger (friggin' Dagger, haha). But it's ok 'cuz Joker saves the day! Joker is aweshum. Sebastian insists on being recruited and once he gets the yes, he asks for Ciel to be recruited as well. However, Ciel has to take the entry test and we all know just how athletic Ciel is. More humor to come!
Also, anyone else surprised by Peter's voice? Was not what I was expecting, he sounded like a little creep in this ep. Probably just me though. I dunno what I was imagining in the manga while reading his lines, but I just expected something better suited for him. Why am I so concerned 'bout this? I'm not really, just needed to ramble on 'bout something.
Well, that's a wrap-up for ep2! Can't wait for things to slowly get darker and sadder and rip out my hearts with feels like it did in the manga.
Also, BOC is only gonna have 10 episodes! Noooooo! I get that the arc was considerably short but aww. At least we have Book of Murder to look forward to!
