Layla (レイラ, Reira) is a nurse at the Athena Sanatorium.
She has a second personality named Al (アル, Aru)[1] who she calls out in dire situations.[3][4]
Character Outline[]

Layla in color
Layla is a girl with light blonde hair and blue eyes whom Baldroy estimates to be about Ciel Phantomhive's age. She, attired in a nurse's uniform, wears two hair bows and a cross necklace.
Layla is a nurse with a friendly, cheerful disposition; in her first meeting with Baldroy, a new patient, she assured him that she will care for him from the bottom of her heart.[5] Despite how bubbly she is, she can adopt a more intimidating persona, as demonstrated when, to train a patient to his limit, she sat on his back, called him a "swine," and ordered him to walk fast.[6]
Plot[]
Blue Revenge Arc[]

Lau observes Layla.
At the Athena Sanatorium, Layla reports to chief nurse Ada and introduces herself to Baldroy, a new patient. Upon noticing that Lau has been observing her, Layla asks if something is wrong, to which he says no.[7]

Layla taunts a patient.
The next day, in the rehabilitation room, Layla, seated on the back of a patient, is taunting said patient in order to motivate him. She then greets Baldroy sunnily and offers to train him. She bids him farewell when he exits.[8]

Ada supervises Layla.
Sometime later, under Ada's supervision, Layla assists the other staff members in unloading a cart and transferring the goods to the warehouse.[9]
While Ada is lost in contemplation, Layla calls for her attention and asks if she is feeling well. Ada claims that she is fine before setting off to supervise her patients' calisthenics, while Layla looks on.[10]

Layla stabs Baldroy.
Afterward, Layla follows Baldroy out of the sanatorium. After Baldroy successfully kills the hooded men dispatched to collect the blood, Layla sneaks up behind him and stabs him. She says that she is punishing him, a "naughty swine," for leaving the sanatorium without permission.[11]

Layla bites Baldroy.
Delighted, Layla licks Baldroy's blood off her knife, relishing the smell of her food. She bites into Baldroy's back and slurps his blood before withdrawing and commenting that, according to Undertaker, ingesting from the mouth is "meaningless." She adds that she left the sanatorium to search for food and came across Baldroy, a rat that had "sneaked into the larder." She deduces that Baldroy must be associated with Ciel, considering that he knew about the blood ingestion.[12]

Layla plans to exterminate everyone.
Ultimately, Layla dismisses the thought and expresses that she is glad she has finished off Baldroy, who "corrupted" Ada, their "mock-nightingale." After deciding to exterminate everyone, she heads off.[13]

Layla ambushes Lau.
While Lau is reading a book in his room, Layla ambushes him. He intercepts the attack with his blades and reveals that he sensed Layla was no ordinary nurse on the day they met. Layla pretends to be hurt before attacking Lau. After tasting Lau's blood, she determines that he is her food, too.[14]
Just then, Baldroy shoots Layla through the heart from behind. When Layla questions how he is still alive, he replies that he was once known as the "invincible private soldier." He turns the question back on her, and she cries about her blood spilling. Baldroy asserts that he must kill her for Ciel's sake.[15]
Layla screams for "Al" to help her and she escapes through the window. She is frustrated that Al did not rescue her. As she runs through the forest, she says that she will inform "Ciel Phantomhive".[16]

Ronald helps Layla up.
While dashing through the forest, Layla trips over a rock and falls to the ground. She tearfully states that Al has promised her that she would not leave her alone. Ronald Knox helps her up, apologizes for having kept her waiting, and declares that he has found her.[17]
