Ch30 Kelvin Manor

Kelvin Manor is the primary base of operations of Baron Kelvin.

Kelvin Manor is the large, multistory, sumptuous residence of Baron Kelvin, environed by vast tracts of land. Its foyer is filled with prostheses fashioned by Doctor out of the bones of children at Renbourn Workhouse[1] and the children kidnapped by the first-string members of the Noah's Ark Circus. In the dining hall, there is a stage where the children have to perform deadly circus acts for Kelvin's entertainment.

The basement has been repurposed into a recreation of the tiered sacrificial chamber within the cathedral where children, i.a. Ciel Phantomhive and "Ciel Phantomhive", were held captive by a cult.

History[]

Kelvin Manor was where philanthropist Baron Kelvin resided with his wife. After encountering the Phantomhive family, Kelvin became obsessed with them and with the notion of obtaining beauty commensurate to theirs. He sought out Doctor and underwent multiple plastic surgeries at the expense of his legs. He, swathed in bandages, was perennially bedridden at the manor. His obsession disturbed his wife, who left him.[2] Joker often tended to Kelvin, who kept a horde of kidnapped children with him, all of whom insensate from trauma.[3]

Ch31 Recreated sacrificial ampitheater

The recreated sacrificial chamber

One day, a cultist visited Kelvin and revealed that he had Ciel Phantomhive and "Ciel Phantomhive" in his possession. Kelvin desired to accompany him for the prospective sacrifice, but he was unable to, as he no longer had legs.[4] Although never a witness to the scene, he was inspired by the carnage on the day of the sacrifice and proceeded to recreate the tiered sacrificial chamber at the cathedral in the basement of the manor, a project which required three years to complete.[5]

Ch35 Kelvin Manor in flames

The manor in flames.

In February 1889, Ciel and Sebastian Michaelis arrived at the manor. Joker led them to Kelvin, as per the latter's request, and was compelled to host a feast and a gruesome show where kidnapped children performed fatal circus acts.[6] Afterward, they headed down the stairs to the basement, where Kelvin showed them the chamber he had recreated, within which were children in cages.[7]

After Joker was incapacitated and both Kelvin and Doctor were killed by Sebastian, Ciel had Sebastian burn down the manor.[8]
