Summary[]
Two men attempt to pick the lock of Ciel's bedroom door when Baldroy spots them and throws a jar of jam toward them. The jar explodes and while they are guarding their faces, Baldroy shoots one of them. The other one shoots at Baldroy, but Baldroy uses a bag filled with two sacks of flour to shield himself. He cuts the man's throat and praises the versatility of flour and remarks that this kind of work really cannot be advertised in newspapers.
Then, Ciel opens the door and asks what Baldroy is doing so late at night and says that he hopes he has not killed them all. Baldroy fears that he may see the corpses and get scared. However, to his surprise, Ciel only notes that intruders tried to kill him "yet again." He also informs Baldroy that he has to keep at least one intruder alive so that they can find out their employer and make them pay for disturbing his sleep. Yawning, Ciel adds that Baldroy has to clean up the mess by morning and returns to bed.
Baffled, Baldroy remains in the hallway, and then Sebastian shows himself and claps. He tells Baldroy that he has passed and that he would have dismissed him if he had not been able to prevent the intruders from entering Ciel's room. Baldroy yells at Sebastian for jeopardizing Ciel's life like that, and Sebastian assures him that he would have stepped in and protected Ciel as per their contract if Baldroy had failed. Then, Sebastian says that he heard that Baldroy was an "invincible private warrior," but he has now come to understand that Baldroy was not invincible: He is only an ordinary human who can make quick judgements and act swiftly and without hesitation because he is so reckless and is not afraid of dying. Sebastian tells Baldroy that he wants him to instruct and oversee Mey-Rin and Finnian, who are skilled but inexperienced and often act carelessly, as the senior servant in command. Baldroy only replies that they are all insane; Sebastian only congratulates him for being one of them now and orders him to take the intruders to the larder immediately as the corpses will spoil quickly. A refuse collector will arrive in the morning to collect the bodies.
Before Baldroy cleans up everything, Sebastian wants to tell him one more thing: Baldroy has to use the staircase for servants the next time he comes upstairs as guests cannot see him running around. Annoyed, Baldroy loudly asks him if this is the right time to tell him this. This disturbs Ciel who yells at them to be quiet.
