The Butler, Grieving (その執事、哀傷, Sono Shitsuji, Aishō) is Chapter 206 of the Kuroshitsuji manga.
Summary[]
Doll appeals to Snake to join her to take revenge on the Phantomhives. Snake does not quite comprehend what she is saying; and because she said earlier that Finnian "ground" Jumbo's intestines into "minced meat," Snake turns to Finnian and asks if he truly killed Jumbo. Finnian admits that he killed Jumbo because he came to Phantomhive Manor to murder Ciel. He continues by stating that Ciel is the Queen's Watchdog and "disposing of evil" is his duty—and because the first-tier members of the Noah's Ark Circus kidnapped children and allowed them to be maltreated, they had to be eradicated.
Burdened by the revelation that the Phantomhive killed his family and that his family were criminals, Snake sinks to his knees. Doll tries to persuade him not to listen to Finnian as he is their foe, and Finnian tells him not to join her and reminds him of what they did to Ginny. The situation and the question of who to trust and side with overwhelm Snake.
Meanwhile, Susan and the chief join them and the elder students in the corridor, and the chief shoots at Oliver, though Theodore can push him back on time. The chief then tells them to give up as they possess neither weapons nor a map and, thus, cannot win. Theodore agrees but is only a ruse: When the chief becomes careless, Theodore instructs and helps Mabel with attacking the chief. Mabel can knock her out with a kick, and before Susan can shoot her, Oliver sneaks up behind her and threatens her with a knife; Susan subsequently surrenders. Victorious, Theodore boasts that they bested them because of the "aptitudes" the orphanage staff "reared so carefully."
Amused by Theodore's wording, Doll replies that they are only "imitations" that can "never surpass the real thing" before she lunges to slice Mabel's throat—to her horror, she cuts Snake's instead, as he rushed to save Mabel. With his last strength, Snake says that she, his family, would "never do something like that" before he collapses.
