The Butler, Eavesdropping (その執事、盗聴, Sono Shitsuji, Tōchō) is Chapter 203 of the Kuroshitsuji manga.
Summary[]
Finnian struggles with himself whether he should tell Snake the truth about the circus members, but before he can come to a decision, Mabel tells them to hurry up. Snake and Finnian follow her to the stable Jonathan pointed out to them. There, Artie says they already searched and could not find anything. When he remarks that snakes are "creepy" and wonders if they can even be useful at all, Jonathan purposefully spooks the horse in the stable; Mabel calms it down. Wordsworth notes that the horse's hooves echoed rather loudly despite the floor being made of stone, and Jonathan says that he smelled Ginny from under the horse.
Finnian, Snake, and the elder students then clear the stable and find a button that unlocks part of the ground; when they lift the stones, they discover an entrance to the basement. They climb down the rungs, and Jonathan leads them through the tunnels and to what looks like a hospital room. Finnian recognizes a dissection table in the room, having seen one when he was test subject in Germany, and Mabel finds Ginny's fledging garment in a box.
Just when everyone sets out to search the room thoroughly, Oliver accidentally pushes open a door and finds Ginny inside a large jar. The sight shocks everyone, and then Finnian notices that the entire room is full of jars, only the others do not contain a full human but only pieces of one: All sorts of organs are stored in the jars. Before they can take a closer look at everything, Oscar hears steps, and everyone hides.
A moment later, the chief, Susan, and another maid arrive. After the chief sees that the "packing" is done, she instructs Susan to clean Ginny's fledging garment as they will need it for the next "fledging ceremony": Theodore's.
