The Butler, Explaining is Chapter 199 of the Kuroshitsuji manga.
Summary[]
Theodore tells Finnian to stay quiet and follow them if he wants to stay alive. Then, Mabel who is still hanging upside down from the ceiling and holding onto Finnian loses her grip on him because he is so heavy. Mabel, Finnian, and Oliver, who was clinging on Finnian's back, promptly fall to the ground, to Theodore's annoyance. After they have sorted themselves again, Oliver reminds the others that the night watch will arrive soon and that they should change locations. At the same time, Finnian notices that Oliver managed to tie him up without him noticing.
Artie pulls Finnian up, and the four elder students escort Finnian to a storage room. There, they make him kneel on the floor while Theodore interrogates him. The others are surrounding Finnian to make sure he cannot escape; Oliver holds his knife against Finnian's throat. Theodore tells Finnian that he should answer all his questions with either a yes or no before he proceeds to ask whether the F.O.L. Orphanage staff instructed him to watch the students, he knows who Doll truly is, and where the children who have reached their "fledging day" are sent to; Finnian shakes his head at every question.
Because Finnian does not seem to know anything about the orphanage, Artie wonders if Finnian could be a simple day worker. Mabel interjects that they do not need an accomplice; they are strong enough to escape with everyone by themselves. Theodore scolds Mabel for blurting out their goal and adds that he worries she will accidentally inform the staff about it one day. He then reminds Oliver, Mabel, and Artie that they have barely any time left; this is their last chance to escape but they cannot do it on their own because they are still children. Artie replies that a weak "nobody" will not be helpful in their endeavor, and the elder students begin to argue with one another: Mabel agrees with Artie. Oliver points out what happened to the other escapees and starts to cry because he does not want to die. Theodore says that is the reason why they need to make another plan. Artie yells at Oliver to stop crying because crying does not help.
Finnian interrupts them and asks if he could have a word. The students are stunned that Finnian has not only managed to untie himself, but that he has bent Oliver's knife with his bare hands. Finnian says he could assist them with their plan, and Theodore inquires who he is. Finnian joyfully answers that he is a gardener, though he has not done any gardening lately because he was thrown out of the manor. He informs him and the others that he came to the orphanage to investigate a certain organization on his master's orders, and asks if they could entrust him with all they know. Mabel thinks Finnian is weird, and Artie asks Theodore what they should do. After pondering over it, Theodore decides to continue interrogating Finnian. He reminds Finnian that he is at a disadvantage before he queries what kind of organization he is investigating. To their shock, Finnian tells them that it is an evil organization that collects human blood.
