The Butler, Associating is Chapter 196 of the Kuroshitsuji manga.
Summary[]
Snake apologizes for accidentally saying something that upset Doll and the maids. Doll accepts the apology and immediately suggests to continue their tour so that they will not disturb the others further. After showing them the upstairs rooms, Doll leads Snake and Finnian outside to the stables. There, a maid, Susan, struggles to get a Corgi student, Ginny, to practice riding; after a horse dropped her and she hurt her foot, Ginny has been refusing to participate in those lessons although, as a Corgi, she must have an aptitude in riding.
As soon as Ginny sees Doll, she rushes to her side and hugs her, asking her for help. Susan informs Doll that Ginny had a high aptitude for Corgi class. Then, Doll tries to persuade Ginny to take her lesson, but Ginny refuses. In this moment, a Pomeranian student, Theodore, arrives and tells Ginny not to cause trouble for the teachers. Everyone watches Theodore walking to the horse. As he pets the horse, he says that horses can sense the feelings of their riders because of their high intelligence; if the rider is afraid of the horse, the horse will be reluctant to cooperate with them. Theodore hands Ginny a carrot and tells her to feed it to the horse so that they will become friends. Ginny gives the horse the carrot and it accepts it. Then, Theodore points out the horse's kind eyes and assures Ginny that, if she is gentle with horses, they will be gentle to her in return.
After Ginny has left for her riding lesson, Doll and Susan thank Theodore for helping out and apologize for bothering a Pomeranian. He, in turn, apologizes for meddling and adds that he was simply in the area; he went on a walk before his next class. Susan then lists Theodore's good deeds lately—finding Nick who sneaked out of class and persuading Milly who is a picky eater to finish her meal—and says that every child listens to him. Theodore replies that it is simply the duty of the oldest son to look after his siblings. With Ronnie gone, Theodore is the oldest now after all.
Theodore notices Finnian and Snake and asks who they are. Doll tells him that they are her friends and will work here now, and Snake and Finnian introduce themselves. Theodore returns the introduction and before he leaves for his class, he points out to Finnian that he speaks with a "beautiful upper-class accent." Finnian looks after him, thinking that Theodore reminds him of someone.
Afterward, Doll proposes to go to the Collie students as their next class is baking; then, they could have some pastries under the pretense of helping out. However, Doll collapses mid-sentence, making Snake and Finnian worry. Doll tells them to stay away from her and says she simply became dizzy because the sun hit her eyes. She asks Susan to bring Finnian and Snake to the Collie students. As soon as they are gone, Doll, her veins dark and starkly visible, goes to hide in the stables. She is frustrated that this has happened now and says that she wants everyone to wait while she sends everyone to "your hell."
