The Butler, Apart is Chapter 152 of the Kuroshitsuji manga.
Summary[]
For an undercover mission, Mey-Rin and Ran-Mao head to North Yorkshire by train. At the train station, a man is already waiting to bring them to Baron Heathfield's manor where they will work as maids as "Mey" and "Ran," two orphaned Chinese sisters.
At the manor, Ran-Mao and Mey-Rin are interviewed by the housekeeper Mrs. Abbie: Mey-Rin tells her that she and her "sister" came to England as children with their parents who later died in an epidemic. Following their parents' death, they went to London to work as maids-for-all-work for a trading merchant family. Said family eventually ran away and left them unemployed when their company went bankrupt.
After Mey-Rin finishes their tale, Mrs. Abbie points out Mey-Rin's flawed English before asking them whether or not she and her sister can read. Mey-Rin tells her that they can, and Mrs. Abbie gives them the job.
A maid, Jane, guides Mey-Rin and Ran-Mao to their room and tells them that there are 35 servants in the Heathfield Household–fewer than twenty of them are maids–and that the night curfew is at 10 pm. Mey-Rin is surprised that they can go to sleep so early, and Jane says that is what Baron Heathfield wants. She also says that they will receive three meals a day, can take a bath every two days, and may head to town on their days off. After Mey-Rin expresses how lucky she and "Ran" are for having found such a good job, Jane tells them to change into their maid uniform. Afterward, Jane announces that "Mey" will work as a housemaid and "Ran" as a laundry maid before proceeding to show them the manor.
